Here is a list of frequently asked questions (and their answers) about Cooper City High School DECA:

What Does DECA Stand for? DECA stands for Distributive Education Clubs of America, however we now refer to it as An Association of Marketing Students even though the abbreviation remains the same.

How Would You Describe DECA? DECA is an international association of high school and college students studying marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality and marketing sales and service. Purposes are to assist local charted Chapters of Florida DECA in growth and development of occupational marketing, and to promote understanding and appreciation for responsibilities of citizenship in our private competitive enterprise system.

How will membership in DECA help me achieve my career goals? DECA exposes you to many different careers and business situations in the fields of Marketing, Management, Finance, Merchandising, and Entrepreneurship. This program gives you the opportunity to establish important contacts with leaders in the business world. These contacts may open doors to the rewarding job of your dreams.

Who is CCHS DECA’s Faculty Sponsor? Mr. Brian Chalk

What are CCHS DECA’s Membership Requirements? Requirements to be in DECA are that you must be enrolled in Marketing class, pay your dues, participate in chapter activities and attend meetings.

What is the Frequency of Meetings? Members meet every other Tuesday at 7AM.

What business and marking classes does DECA offer? During your freshman year, Principles of Entrepreneurship lets you learn basic concepts relating to starting your own business. From there, you may take any of the following classes in your sophomore, junior, or senior years. In your senior year you may take Marketing OJT, which provides paid on the job experience and training.
